TU Dresden works closely with schools to get children and young people interested in science and to support them in their choice of studies and career orientation. Teachers can take advantage of a wide range of learning opportunities for themselves and their classes, all the while receiving further training on current topics. Robotics
Robotics is one of the pressing topics of the future. This is where the Centre for Tactile Internet with Human-in-the-Loop (CeTI) Cluster of Excellence is in its element and can inspire the scientists of the future. Researchers have been working closely with educators to develop online modules based on the Saxon curriculum. In live sessions, the children can discuss and contribute their ideas on the topic of digitalization. As part of the "Girls for Robots" program, girls have the whole day to independently program robots. Want to know more? Have a look at the CeTI website.
Sustainability
How can we conserve valuable resources? What happens to our waste? And what contribution can research make to greater sustainability? TU Dresden organizes numerous events for schools on the subject of sustainability and environmental protection, such as workshops, laboratory visits, simulation games or a sustainable campus expedition. Natural sciences
Particle World Network (Netzwerk Teilchenwelt)
School classes can explore the world of elementary particles and reconstruct processes from the first seconds of the universe with the "Particle World Network" (German: Netzwerk Teilchenwelt). It has 34 locations nationwide and is centrally coordinated by TU Dresden. In master classes, young people are given an introduction to the field of research and, under the guidance of scientists, analyze real data from large-scale experiments such as CERN themselves. They take place in schools, student laboratories, universities and other research institutions. Online events, in-depth stages through to individual research projects and teacher training complete the range of courses on offer.
LernLaborFarbe - Our Color Learning Lab
Experience, discover and understand science: In the LernLaborFarbe color lab at TU Dresden, we focus on phenomena and research questions relating to scientific topics. These include, for example, nanotechnology, mobility or color and light. The LernLaborFarbe is thus an extracurricular place of learning for preschool children, pupils from different types of schools, trainees and specialists from various professions.
DLR_School_Lab TU Dresden
With the tag line "Out of the school and into the lab," pupils from grades 5 to 12 can immerse themselves in the exciting world of scientific and technical research. With ten different experiments, the pupils laboratory in the rooms of the Technische Sammlungen Dresden Museum of Science and Technology offers insights into current research at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and TU Dresden.
Biology – Bakteriopolis & the world of microbes
As part of the mobile exhibition project “Bakteriopolis – The hidden world of microbes,” workshops and projects are available that introduce students of all ages to the fascinating world of microbes. Depending on requirements, project days can be held at schools or visits to the mobile exhibition in the Dresden Botanical Garden can be organized. Computer science and electronics
The Pupil Computing Center (German: Schülerrechenzentrum, SRZ) Dresden supports school pupils who are gifted in computer science and electronics. Here, students can actively deepen and expand their knowledge. They can familiarize themselves with important working methods and gain a useful advantage in preparing for their future studies and career. In the EduInf school lab, even elementary school children can make their first steps in computer science.
