Contact point: We are the first point of contact for postdocs if you have any concerns about your work- and qualification situation. All concerns are treated confidentially.

Representives: We want to engage in a conversation about the challenges, needs and wishes of postdocs at the HZDR and the TUD and we give them a voice in the Graduate Academy, at HZDR and TUD, e.g. in the realignment of job categories for academic staff.

First-Hand Information: We see ourselves as a first-hand information hub especially with respect to international students, explaining the character of the German research system (for example the differences between research institutes (HZDR) vs universities (TUD) / TV salary questions (e.g. University TV-Land vs HZDR TVöD Bund), Working-relationships; scientific working traditions)

Network: We want to bring postdocs together and build up an interdisciplinary postdoc network to exchange information and foster a productive collaboration environment.

Exchange: We organize social events for postdocs (monthly PostdocsMEET) and exchange with other committees such as Doctoral Council and Graduate Academy executive board. In 2023, we initiated a Network of Postdoc Councils in Germany, which is meeting virtually three times a year to discuss postdoc matters at the national level, and to exchange experiences and perspectives on council work.
