Vacancy: Position of Executive Manager
At the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the position of
Executive Manager
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 14 TV-L)
is to be filled at the earliest possible date for an initial period of 24 months (governed by § 31 TV-L collective wage agreement). A permanent contract is envisaged to follow. The compatibility of family and work life is a high priority. In principle, this position is also suitable for part-time employees.

Tasks
As Executive Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the School administration on behalf of the School Council of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. You will support the School Council and the School Committee in the coordination of both the academic self-administration and the administrative processes of the faculties. You will advise the School Council on the conception, management and strategic development of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, in particular with regard to its internationalisation, IT governance, public relations, and profile building, particularly in the Emerging Field ‘Societal Change’. You will be responsible for the preparation and revision of fundamental policy documents on academic self-administration (e.g. School regulations, regulations of the School's centres), on the development of School administration processes, and on cross-faculty regulations and procedures. You will be in charge of preparing draft decisions for the University Executive Board and the Senate regarding issues of the School, as well as draft decisions for the School Council. You will be responsible for the resource management of the School administration (position and human resource development, inducting and implementing staff-related decisions, drawing up the financial plan and controlling the budget management, presenting the short and medium-term resource planning and allocation). You will have the executive HR responsibility for the staff of the School administration. As an intermediary to the Central University Administration, you will advise the faculty officers of the School on human resources issues, law, and budget, including the corresponding process support.
Requirements
Academic university degree in at least one humanities or social sciences discipline of the School; both doctorate and proven additional qualifications in science management; leadership competency; expertise and experience in human resources, administrative and budgetary law; experience in strategy formation processes, organisational development and change management in academic institutions; very good command of German and English, both oral and written; confident command of data and office communication; ability to work in a team, social competence, especially in dealing with university members of all status groups; outstanding communicative competence; independent, goal and service-orientated approach to work; ability to have a cooperative management and working style; high degree of both assertiveness and sense of responsibility.
