Critique of racism and postcolonialism
City and migration, urban studies critical of racism and decolonial urban studies, postcolonial urban studies, city and diaspora, Asian diaspora, politics of public space, urban informality, memory practices and politics, gender equality and anti-discrimination politics are among the research interests of Noa K. Ha (junior research group leader at the ZfI). At the ZfI, she intensively researches the occurrence of racism in postcolonial Western society.
As an expert in this field, she is also repeatedly part of high-profile projects and events, of which three current ones are referred to here:
- A feature on racism was produced in cooperation with Deutschlandfunk: So-called "human races" are not scientifically provable. But in schoolbooks, at universities, in the way knowledge is produced, outdated views are perpetuated. It is precisely science that should provide approaches to actively break through the reproduction of racist thinking.
- The new German organisations have invited Noa Ha to speak at their congress "IN.POWERMENT | Netzwerk inklusiv" on 01 February 2019 on the topic Chemnitz & Charlottesville: Why Knowing Our History Matters.
- On 09 February 2019, Noa Ha will speak on Decolonizing our democracy – Was hat die Kolonialzeit mit unserer Demokratie zu tun? in Weimar during the Woche der Demokratie.
A look at the projects and events is certainly worthwhile!
