On 12 and 13 January 2018, the ZfI organised a Kitchen Talk and a workshop with the Syrian Youtuber, blogger and actor Firas Alshater together with HELLERAU - Europäisches Zentrum der Künste Dresden. The events were part of the "Courage - Wissen, Sehen, Handeln!" series.

Teaser for the Kitchen Talk on 12.01.2018: Treats for the Occident and getting to know each other at the Hot Pot! Cooking together and then eating is a nice way to get into conversation with each other. This time we will bake. Everyone helps and gets to know their neighbours and new culinary delights. The Syrian actor, author and YouTube star Firas Alshater will be the cook this time.

Teaser for the workshop on 13.01.2018: How do I tell my story? How do I spread it via blogs, videos, social media? Firas Alshater teaches how to create a low-budget video production with a smartphone. He is a normal Berliner, born in Damascus, actor, comedian and successful YouTuber.  His political videos landed him in prison in Syria. In 2013 he received a visa for Germany and since then he has been trying to understand his new home.
