"Die Erfindung des muslimischen Anderen"
Saturday, 27.11.2021 // 6:30 pm
What do all 'Muslims' have in common? Why don't Muslims position themselves more strongly against terrorism? Why do Kreuzberg crime stories sell better than others? The book of essays "Die Erfindung des muslimischen Anderen" by Anna Sabel and Özcan Karadeniz does not explain what 'Muslims really are', but takes a look back at those who produce and perpetuate these images.
Anna Sabel and Mehmet Arbag from the Association of Binational Families and Partnerships will read from the book, which is critical of racism. This will be followed by a discussion with Mr. Ozan Zakariya Keskinkilic (political scientist at Humoldt University Berlin), and guests are cordially invited to ask questions in the livestream.
The event is part of the festival "Rassismus verlernen" – Kunst- und Kulturfestival from 22 to 29 November 2021.
This festival is organised by the Council for Migration e.V., in cooperation with the Centre for Integration Research at the TU Dresden, anDemos - Institute for Applied Democracy and Social Research and the German Hygiene Museum Dresden.
The conference is generously supported by the Federal Agency for Civic Education.
