Subject to available funding, the Centre for Integration Studies is seeking to recruit a researcher for the project "Ostdeutsche Migrationsgesellschaft selbst erzählen: Bürgererschaftliche Geschichtswerkstätten als Produktionsorte für Stadtgeschichten" (MigOst) from 01.10.2022 for the position of a

student assistant (5 - 8 hours per week)

until 30.06.2023 with the option of extension until 29.02.2024. The duration of employment is in accordance with the WissZeitVG.

The project "Ostdeutsche Migrationsgesellschaft selbst erzählen: Bürgererschaftliche Geschichtswerkstätten als Produktionsorte für Stadtgeschichten" (MigOst) sheds light on migration history and society in the new federal states. The GDR also has a migration history. However, in the Federal German narrative, these specific developments are neither reflected nor addressed in a common migration history. In order to better explore this, researchers from the TU Dresden and migrant associations are working together with citizens in history workshops in Cottbus, Dresden and Halle to develop plural "(city) histories" from biographical narratives.

Tasks: scientific support within the framework of the MigOst project, in particular support for the conception and implementation of the history workshops as well as assistance in research data management

Requirements: enrolled student at a university, in a field of study of the humanities and social sciences; interest in migration research (German-German migration society, migrant self-organisation, racism) and applied migration research (citizen science-participatory approaches); good knowledge of German; independent and responsible working style; high degree of reliability and ability to work in a team
