Data protection & rights
Legal issues primarily include the topics of data protection and copyright.
Below you will find helpful information and contact points. Please note that we do not process legal enquiries ourselves, but forward them to the relevant contact person.
Are you unsure whether you are allowed to use certain tools and programmes in teaching? Do you need information because you store and/or process data from students or colleagues?
TU Dresden's Data Protection Officer advises on data protection issues and provides support in ensuring compliance with data protection regulations at TU Dresden.
On the Data Protection Officer's internal website, you will find a self-study course (https://bildungsportal.sachsen.de/opal/auth/RepositoryEntry/25200099328) as well as handouts and sample forms. The framework regulations and underlying legal provisions can also be found on this page.
Are you interested in data security from a scientific perspective?
Take a look at the research pages of the Chair of Privacy and Security. There you will find lots of information and overviews of projects and publications relating to the goal of developing competitive distributed systems and services that do not require extensive collection of personal data
Information on copyright issues can be obtained from the Institute for International Law, Intellectual Property and Technology Law. The E-Learning Working Group of the LRK Saxony financed the project "UHU - Urheberrecht in Hochschullehre und Unterricht" (UHU - Urheberrecht in Hochschullehre und Unterricht — Professur für Bürgerliches Recht, Immaterialgüterrecht, insb. Urheberrecht, sowie Medien- und Datenschutzrecht — TU Dresden (tu-dresden.de)). Based on specific questions, the project created training materials on the copyright framework conditions of university teaching from a teaching perspective, which are available as tutorials on "Videocampus Sachsen".
In addition, Prof. Dr Lauber-Rönsberg and Dr David Linke from the Chair of Civil Law, Intellectual Property, Media and Data Protection Law offer a module on "Copyright and Data Protection Law Framework Conditions for Future Teachers" and regularly give courses at the Centre for Continuing Education (ZfW). If you are interested, we recommend registering for the newsletter in order to be informed about any offers.
