TUD Lecture: School as a field of conflict
School is a place where everyone inevitably meets once they reach a certain age – it is therefore also inevitable that social conflicts manifest themselves in this space. Right now, the hot button topics include the shortage of skilled workers and provisions for refugees, before that it was the pandemic and right-wing populism. How should schools deal with social conflicts and in what way do they actually become apparent?
Prof. Anja Besand looks closely at the example of how challenges in dealing with group-related hostility can be applied to what is going on in schools in Saxony and how we should avoid the most serious mistakes amidst this confrontation.
