DuBAS
DuBAS - Dual vocational trainingwith Abitur Saxony
Brief description
The reason for initiating the school experiment "Dual Vocational Training with Abitur Saxony - DuBAS" was, on the one hand, the demand of Saxon companies for qualified junior staff and, on the other hand, the growing importance of university-qualifying degrees. In industry and the skilled trades, there was and still is a great need for subject-specific professional qualifications combined with leadership skills.
DuBAS was initiated on the basis of these conditions as well as findings and experiences in relation to the reorganization of the vocational grammar school in Saxony. The project aimed to attract more students to the STEM fields (Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Technology). For this reason, training occupations from the fields of metal and information and communication technology that are in demand in the economy were selected and the school trial was established at three school locations.
DuBAS completes the range of vocational school centers in Saxony with the part-time vocational school on the one hand and the full-time vocational high school on the other, which has now been established following the restructuring. DuBAS thus allows the specialization and differentiation of the vocational grammar school to unfold, and there is now an additional opportunity for so-called permeability between the school types. Furthermore, this training offers graduates in Saxony more options than before in terms of career and, in particular, study choices.
