As part of the course "Subject-specific didactic principles and teaching", subject-specific methods are taught that are used specifically in WTH lessons and thus stand out from the other school subjects.
In addition to the technical experiment, the production and construction task, the product comparison or product analysis and the training course, the sensory testing of food also plays a central role in preparing students in the role of responsible consumers.
Students of WTH/S had the task of developing several teaching arrangements for sensory testing, presenting them, having them tested by fellow students and evaluating them. To this end, various test methods and ways of gaining knowledge were described and tried out, which can be used as examples in WTH lessons.
In the last three seminars of the didactics of STEM/S module, the students carried out the topics of project tasks, complete action using the example of the production task and the variants of the production principles in connection with the didactic implementation in STEM lessons in a practice-oriented manner. In 2019, the final result was more than 30 hand-painted miners and angels made in the tradition of the Ore Mountains. In addition to making a beautiful Christmas present, the students were able to gain an insight into how a Christmas project can be implemented in everyday school life and how suitable production organizations can be used in everyday school life.
