Educational Teaching and Research Laboratory (ELF)
The ELF is a practical project in which students enrolled in teacher training can initiate or expand their professional skills within the framework of peer learning and peer coaching settings. A variety of activities are offered alongside the studies. These include competence training courses, peer counselling, a student tutor programme, and a research laboratory.
Our concept
Objective
The ELF aims to support students in developing their pedagogical professionalism by offering them the opportunity to gain reflected practical experience in teaching and learning processes. The analysis and understanding of one's own role and pedagogical attitude is a key component. The ELF offers dedicated students a space to practice teamwork and cooperation, independence, and critical self-reflection based on science.
How we work
Within the ELF, students act on their own responsibility and learn in an independent and goal-oriented way. The individual supervision of the learning process by multipliers helps students to develop thorough understanding of the study contents of educational science. Furthermore, they acquire methodological research skills as well as practical pedagogical skills relevant to the teaching profession.
Fundamental principles
The ElF is working according to the following fundamental principles:
- from students to students / students as teachers
- Peer coaching
- Qualification of the students through multiplier trainings
- Individual supervision and counselling (by the members of the ELF)
- Sustainability and quality management
- Career guidance and support
- Combination of theoretical and practical learning contents
Cooperation
The ELF in Dresden regularly exchanges experiences and ideas with the ELF in Münster. The image film shown on their homepage demonstrates what is typical for both laboratories: http://www.uni-muenster.de/EW/elf/
The research laboratory of the ELF as part of the measure 'Synergetic teacher training in the context of the Excellence Initiative' (TUD Sylber) is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research within the framework of the quality campaign for teacher training (Qualitätsoffensive Lehrerbildung).
