Course description
In this seminar, students first have the opportunity to deal with basic theories and current research on media use and the information behavior of children and adolescents. In addition, students are given an insight into the use of child-friendly search engines, social networks and AI as (central) sources of information. It is crucial to consider the information behavior of children and young people against the background of potential risks such as fake news, filter bubbles, deepfakes and hallucinations. For this reason, this seminar will also focus in detail on building skills to promote enlightened and reflective information behavior among children and young people.

Description
In this seminar, we will look at the significance of digital media for the sexual socialization and education of young people. In addition to theoretical concepts of media socialization, we will discuss the extent to which digital media - from social networks to AI-generated content - influence sexual norms, identities and educational processes. In this context, both the opportunities arising from educational content and the risks, such as cybergrooming, sexual harassment on the internet and the effects of pornography, will be examined. Ultimately, the question of which skills are necessary for young people to deal with sex-related content on the internet in a reflective manner will be explored.

Description
In this seminar, we will look at media consumption by young people from the perspective of media usage research. We will deal with motives for use and media use theories and will gain an insight into the motivation of young people to use selected social media tools through our own research. Each participant will design, conduct and evaluate their own interview with the target group (from their own circle of acquaintances). The research activity will be documented as part of a seminar paper.
Contents:
- Media consumption of young people
- Media use theories: uses-and-gratifications approach, mood management approach, identity construction, parasocial interaction, informational utility approach
- Research methods for the identification of usage motives
Learning objectives:
- Students will be able to describe the media usage behavior of young people based on relevant studies.
- Students will be able to compare different approaches to media use and usage motivation.
- Students will be able to implement their own research project based on media usage theories.
- Students can use the example of their own research project to provide an insight into the media usage behavior of young people.

Course description
How do you bridge the gap between school and practice? In this seminar, we will delve into the world of learning location cooperation - an exciting concept from vocational education that is becoming increasingly important for other types of schools. Together we will explore how teachers can actively contribute to strengthening cooperation between schools and companies with the help of media. The focus is on modern, often informal and digital communication channels. Current studies and specific research data on students' knowledge of cooperation between learning venues will be analyzed and insights into the perspectives of companies will be gained through empirical studies. If you want to know how cooperation with companies can be made more practical, digital and future-oriented, then this seminar offers you exciting insights and practical impulses!
