Description
The seminar offers students the opportunity to design and implement their own media pedagogical or media didactic project. The focus is on the application of theoretical media didactic and media pedagogical knowledge in practical work with students in school or extracurricular educational contexts.

Description
This seminar is dedicated to the comprehensive analysis of the media socialization and development of children and adolescents. A special focus is placed on the role of teachers in this process and the competencies required by teachers to promote media literacy among their students. Through analyses, discussions and practical exercises, participants will be enabled to understand the media socialization and development of children and adolescents and to classify and evaluate the skills required for teachers to teach media education.

The aim is to develop a sound understanding of the future challenges and opportunities in media education and to develop practical strategies for implementing new approaches in educational work.

Course description
In this seminar, we explore the diverse possibilities of creative media use in a school context in order to promote students' media skills and creativity. We will cover various topics, such as what is creativity? What is digital storytelling? What creativity techniques are there? How can I use digital tools inclusively in my lessons?
This seminar requires a high degree of active participation, as we want to create practice-oriented media projects.
Learning objectives:
1.Develop media literacy: students will develop the ability to use various digital media and tools safely and critically to promote media literacy in students.
2.promoting creative expression: Students will be able to plan and implement creative media projects such as digital storytelling, video productions and podcasts to make lessons more varied and motivating.
3 Inclusive educational approaches: Students will learn methods and strategies for using digital media and creative projects to promote inclusion and support students with diverse needs.
4.application of interactive learning materials: Students will be able to create interactive learning materials and gamified content to increase student engagement and motivation to learn.

Description
The seminar first offers students the opportunity to deal with relevant theories on the concept of the public sphere. Building on this, the changes in the public sphere in recent years and decades will be examined and central concepts such as 'filter bubbles', 'media democracy', 'rabbit holes' etc. will be discussed along the previously discussed theoretical approaches to the public sphere. Finally, the seminar will focus on a joint consideration of the consequences for media education and the changed competence requirements in the course of the transformation of the public sphere. What answers does media education have to these challenges?
Learning objectives:
- Students will gain an insight into the academic discourse on the concept of the public sphere and the transformation of the public sphere.
- Students will be familiar with various competence frameworks and competence models relating to media literacy.
- Students transfer their knowledge of various competence models to the social challenges associated with the transformation of the public sphere.
- Students apply their knowledge of the central challenges of the digital structural change of the public sphere when discussing various media education approaches

Building on this, the changes in political participation processes in the context of digitization will be examined and central concepts such as 'digital divide', 'e-democracy', 'net politics' etc. will be discussed along previously discussed theoretical approaches to democracy and political participation. Finally, the seminar will focus on the joint consideration of the consequences of media education and the changing competence requirements in view of the constantly growing importance of social media for political participation. What skills will citizens need to have in the future so that they can actively participate in social processes? What does digital civil courage look like in practice, for example? And what media education challenges does this entail (keyword: digital divide)?

Description
In this seminar, we will focus on media consumption by young people from the perspective of media usage research. We will deal with motives for use and media use theories and will gain an insight into the motivation of young people to use selected social media tools through our own research. Each participant will design, conduct and evaluate their own interview with the target group (from their own circle of acquaintances). The research activity will be documented as part of a seminar paper.

- Media use theories: uses-and-gratifications approach, mood management approach, identity construction, parasocial interaction, informational utility approach
- Research methods for the identification of usage motives
Learning objectives:
- Students will be able to describe the media usage behavior of young people based on relevant studies.
- Students will be able to compare different approaches to media use and usage motivation.
- Students will be able to implement their own research project based on media usage theories.
- Students can use the example of their own research project to provide an insight into the media usage behavior of young people.
