The degree program has a standard period of study of ten semesters, i.e. a total of five years.

The SchulAQ study option offers technicians and master craftsmen the possibility of a dual study option in the industrial-technical departments of Teacher Training - Vocational Schools. In addition to studying "Teacher Training - Vocational Schools", students are employed at a vocational school center in Saxony, where they have the opportunity to participate in everyday school life and provide support in the classroom.

Teacher Training - Vocational Schools can be studied in Saxony at the University of Leipzig and TU Dresden. In Saxony, it is also possible to first complete a Bachelor's degree in "Engineering Education" at the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences or the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau and then complete the "Teacher Training - Vocational Schools" course as part of IngPäd+ at TU Dresden.

The extent of the crediting depends on the fit between the previous qualification and the content of the chosen departments/subjects. The academic advisors of the respective departments will be happy to assist you with the credit transfer procedure before you start your studies.

Various school internships take place as part of the Teacher Training - Vocational Schools course at TU Dresden. A four-week work placement (Blockpraktikum A) is completed in the third semester. This is followed by the practical school exercises (SPÜ) for both departments / subjects in the fifth semester, where the first teaching experiments take place under supervision. This is followed in the seventh semester by four weeks of school internships in both departments/subjects with a larger proportion of supervised teaching (block internships B).
