Reasearch at the Faculty
Research at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is diverse and interdisciplinary. It focuses on the TU profile line “Culture and Social Change”: The common ground of all subjects is to describe, develop and understand the foundations of culture in its social change in order to gain insights for current social practice. Basic research is not only closely linked to the transfer to society and culture. Rather, this transfer itself becomes the subject of didactically oriented research at the faculty. This self-image is set out in the key points for strategic development (see below), which the Faculty developed in 2018 and set out in a strategy paper. This self-image has enabled the Faculty, which was newly founded in 1993, to acquire three Collaborative Research Centers to date, as well as several international Research Training Groups, including the first international Research Training Group in the humanities and social sciences, and other research alliances.
