On 25.10., 31.10. and 8.11.2024 the digital conference "Emerging Historical Perspectives on Christian-Muslim Interactions in and around the Mediterranean (c. 630-1614)", co-organized by PD Dr. Eric Böhme, will take place.

Overview

Research Focus

Transcendent-based orders of medieval cities in comparative perspective, culture of dispute/ritualism in Europe, migration/acculturation between Germany and Italy, Upper Rhine humanism, beginnings of the history of the Saxon state parliament.

PD Dr Jörg Sonntag is representing the Chair of Medieval History at TU Dresden from the winter semester 2023/24.

Kolloquium

The research and examination colloquium deals with current topics and problems in medieval history. In dialogue with colleagues from other universities and external research institutions, new projects or individual aspects of various research projects are presented and discussed together with students of the subject. In addition, the colloquium offers examination candidates in medieval history the opportunity to present their final theses for discussion.

Teaching and research focuses on the history of the period from 500 to 1500 from a European perspective, with particular attention paid to the Roman-German Empire and Italy during the High Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
