What is History about? Dresden-Düsseldorf Talks on Past and the Present
In this new format, SFB subproject leader Prof. Dr. Dagmar Ellerbrock (TU Dresden) and Prof. Dr. Heiner Fangerau (HHU Düsseldorf) jointly welcome a historian who has made a name for themself with their ideas, approaches, and interpretations. What the blue sofa is for the literary world, the Dresden-Düsseldorf Talks are to become for history. Guests are invited to talk about why and how they came to history. Starting from this personal approach, broad societal questions about history are discussed: Why is which event remembered (or forgotten) at which point in time, what function and relevance does history have for a respective concrete contemporary society, and who determines how what is remembered as history and what is forgotten? These are the main topics of the discussion, which will be opened to the audience at the end of each event.
The event series is organized by the TU Dresden and the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in cooperation with the German Hygiene Museum Dresden and the Bürger Universität Düsseldorf.
