Teaching geard towards research and pratical application
The Chair of Social and Economic History offers an education that is geared towards both research and practical application. Teaching is carried out in cooperation with partners at TU Dresden itself as well as with archives and museums within the framework of DRESDEN-concept and beyond, visited on site. Jointly addressing socially relevant topics of the culture of memory, we aim to achieve synergies. Students have the opportunity to conduct guided research based on the specific needs, problems and approaches of their practice partners, to produce their own academic findings, and to prepare them for the public in the form of knowledge transfer. The practice partners benefit from both the student perspectives and the concrete research results achieved, which contribute to the preparation of exhibitions, public events, multimedia formats, publications, etc. It is not uncommon for academic final theses to result from the intensive study of specific topics.
