The degree programmes deal with the history of art from late antiquity to the present day and are closely linked to non-university art historical practice. This is achieved primarily through intensive co-operation with high-calibre cultural institutions in Dresden. In this way, students are introduced to museum work and research into the world-famous collections and monuments at the highest level.

Everything here revolves around the training of future art teachers. The department supervises the art teaching degree programmes for primary schools, secondary schools and grammar schools. The practice-oriented degree programme is divided into three areas - art theory, art didactics and art practice - leaving plenty of room for individual specialisations and providing optimal preparation for the demands of everyday working life.

Musicology at the TU Dresden stands for the combination of music-historical and cognitive perspectives, for the fruitful connection of music theory and empirical research and for the interdisciplinary cooperation of music, mathematics, computer science, linguistics and neuroscience.
