Ursula Ströbele
Ursula Ströbele is Chair of History of Art with a focus on contemporary art at the Braunschweig University of Art. She was previously head of the Study Center for Modern and Contemporary Art at the Central Institute for Art History in Munich. In 2019, she was Director of the Kunstverein Arnsberg; from 2012 to 2018, she worked as a Research Associate at the Berlin University of the Arts, where she co-founded the "Theory of Sculpture" network. She completed her doctorate at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf on the sculptural recording works of the French Royal Academy (1700-1730) and completed her habilitation in 2020 on non-human living sculptures since the 1960s, in particular on works by Hans Haacke and Pierre Huyghe. Her core research areas are 20th century sculpture and sculpture theory, digital phenomena in sculpture, queer ecologies and infrastructure studies on production and transportation.
