First-Semester Orientation Events
In addition to the official welcome, these events are designed to provide you with important information about the structure and planning of your studies. You will also have the opportunity to connect with faculty members afterward and ask questions.

Welcome Days
Following the orientation sessions, art history students will have the opportunity to explore Dresden’s cultural institutions together and get to know the people in charge. These events are not only for first-year students in the bachelor’s program but also for students who have recently arrived in Dresden to begin their master’s program.
This year’s “Welcome Days” participants include, among others:
- Kupferstich-Kabinett, SKD
- Green Vault, SKD
- Albertinum, SKD
- Porcelain Collection, SKD
- Archive of the Avant-Garde, SKD
- Dresden Art Museum
- Art Fund, TU Dresden
Registration will be available during the first-semester orientation events as well as via OPAL. The link for registration is still being prepared.
Additional Programs and Events
The Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB) offers tutorials on its website and , starting in October, introductory courses for students in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Learn more

For students majoring in Architectural Studies as a second major: The latest information on course offerings will be announced in the news section of the Department of Art History.
Course Registration
Art History students:
Registration for individual courses takes place via OPAL.
First-semester students in Art Education:
Registration takes place during the degree program’s orientation session.
Art Education students starting in the 2nd semester:
Registration is done online via OPAL.
