Krakow
The former Polish royal city has lost nothing of its venerability even today. You can experience its unique atmosphere during a walk across the Rynek (market square) with the famous cloth halls or during a visit to the Jewish quarter Kazimierz. As a student in Krakow you will be especially impressed by the beautiful old university buildings of the Jagiellonian University, to which belongs also our partner institution in Krakow, the Institute of Intellectual Property Law (Katedra Prawa Własności Intelektualnej).
Krakow is not only a traditional and beautiful university city, but it also offers a student and night life that is famous in and outside of Poland.
Semester schedule
The study period in Krakow begins for our LL.M. students in mid-October and ends in February. Subsequently, students complete a minimum of 4 weeks of subject-related internship.
Courses
Students at Katedra Prawa Własności Intelektualnej can boast of learning and researching at one of the most prestigious institutions for intellectual property law in Europe. The Institute consists of five departments covering all areas of Polish and European intellectual property law, from patent and copyright law to mass media law and antitrust law, led by highly specialized scholars.
There are a variety of IP and IP-related courses in English. A list of courses for the upcoming semester at the Law Faculty will usually be available by the end of August. In addition, there is an opportunity to attend English-language lectures at Krakow University introducing the Polish legal system. Besides courses by the law faculty, it is possible to enroll in courses offered by other faculties of the University, including the Department of Management and Communication.
Exams
Our students take two exams in the field of intellectual property law, European law or business law. At the end of the semester, they write an essay of about 20 pages. The essay may be written in Polish or English.
