Tallinn
Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is located on the Baltic Sea and is the cultural center of the country. It is famous for its walled, cobblestone Old Town with its numerous cafés and stores, as well as the 15th century defense tower Kiek in de Kök. Every winter semester, three of our students have the opportunity to complete the study abroad part of their LL.M. degree at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), which was founded in 1918. Ranked in 3% of the world’s best universities (QS World University Rankings® 2020) it has has a picturesque urban modern campus and is the biggest university in the capital with over 9200 students out of which nearly 1200 are international (13%). As a leader in science, technology and innovation Taltech attaches great importance to entrepreneurship.
Semester schedule:
The study period in Tallinn for our LL.M. students starts at the end of August and ends at the end of January. The courses take place until shortly before Christmas. The examination period follows in January.
Subsequently, the students complete a mandatory internship of at least four weeks in February/March.
Courses:
The course offer is updated twice a year, from middle of April and i middle of October you can find the current schedule. Our students complete at least 4 courses (24 ECTS), at least 3 of which are in the areas of intellectual property and data law, and one additional course which may also touch on topics such as business law, international tax law or international law.
Exams:
The exams in Tallinn usually take place in January. At least 3 of your 4 grades will count towards your master's grade, which means you also have the option to choose a course that is graded pass/fail only. Information about the grading system at Taltech can be found here!
