Sociology in the B.A. Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
As of winter semester 2023/24, the new combined degree course in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences will replace the previous Bachelor's degree courses at the Faculty of Arts , Humanities and Social Sciences. Sociology can be studied in this new degree program as a first major subject (80 CP) or as a second major subject (70 CP). It is also possible to deepen the first major in Sociology in the second major in Social Sciences, which corresponds to the scope of the previous B.A. Sociology.
The first major in Sociology can be combined with the following second majors:
- Protestant Theology
- History
- Catholic theology
- Art History
- Philosophy
- Social Sciences1
- English and American Studies
- German Studies
- Classical Philology
- Romance Studies
- Slavic Studies

The subjects Media Research, Political Science and Sociology cannot be combined as 1st and 2nd major subjects. However, if you choose Social Sciences as your 2nd major subject, you can study content from the two social science subjects not chosen as your 1st major subject as well as content from the subjects Social Education, Business Administration and Economics, Media Computer Science, Law or Psychology (the latter subject to reservation). In-depth content from the subjects of political science and sociology can then also be chosen.
