Price for critical teaching of the FSR Phil for Prof. Dr. Anna Holzscheiter

In order to honor the special commitment to teaching, the student council of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science (FSR Phil) decided to award prices for "remarkable teaching 2020" in consideration of the Corona period. Students were invited to nominate lecturers with particularly good teaching during the Corona period. These were then awarded in various categories.

Prof. Dr. Anna Holzscheiter won in the category "critical teaching". The prize was handed over by the FSR on Tuesday, August 25.

Students had nominated the professor and wrote about her:

„Ihre Vorlesungen hatten eine gute Länge. Sie hat mit PowerPoint-Präsentationen gearbeitet. Dabei hat sie auch immer Audiokommentare eingefügt, die nie die Länge von 5 Minuten überschritten haben. Vorher gab es als Einstimmung immer ein Video von ihr, in welchem sie die Studierenden auf das Thema vorbereitet hat. Sie und ihr Team haben uns in regelmäßigen Abständen über die neuste Vorlesung per E-Mail informiert.“

(free translation: "Her lectures had a good length. She worked with PowerPoint presentations. She also always added audio commentaries that never exceeded the length of 5 minutes. Prior to this, there was always a video of her preparing the students for the topic. She and her team regularly informed us about the latest lecture by e-mail.")

„Wir mussten eine Textanalyse zu einem Text von J. Ann Tickner abgeben, einer Politikwissenschaftlerin, die zu feministischen Theorien innerhalb der IB geforscht hat. Ich fand es sehr schön zu sehen, dass Feminismus nicht nur kurz in der Vorlesung "Kritische Theorien" angesprochen wurde, sondern so viel Raum bekam, dass wir uns alle damit beschäftigten konnten.“

I thought it was very nice to see that feminism was not only briefly addressed in the lecture "Critical Theories", but that it was given enough space for us all to work on it.")

„Frau Holzscheiter unterrichtet neben den "klassischen Theorien" auch feministische und kritische Ansätzen in den Internationalen Beziehungen intensiv in ihren Seminaren und Vorlesungen, immer auf eine interessierte und engagierte Art und Weise. Für Studierende hat sie in diesem "Corona-Semester" sehr viel Verständnis gezeigt, z.B. in dem sie Fristen über die Regelungen heraus verlängert.“
