re:demo university workshop in Dresden Demografické dynamiky v pohraničí: Výzvy pro demokracii / Demographic dynamics in the border region: challenges for democracy

From November 6 to 8, 2025, the second workshop of the binational seminar "Demographic Dynamics in the Border Region: Challenges for Democracy" took place at TU Dresden. Students from the Czech Republic and Germany worked together on political, social and demographic issues.

The program included a guided tour of the Saxon State Parliament and a discussion with MPs Albrecht Pallas (SPD) and Ingo Flemming (CDU). A themed tour of the city by the initiative "Mahngang Täter:innen-spuren", practical exercises such as trying on a suit for the elderly and intercultural activities complemented the content-related work.

At the end, the groups presented their projects and discussed how demographic developments in the Saxon-Czech border region influence democratic participation and what options for action arise from this.

Od 6. do 8. listopadu 2025 se na Technické univerzitě v Drážďanech konal druhý workshop binacionálního semináře "Demografická dynamika v pohraničí: Výzvy pro demokracii". Studenti z České republiky a Německa se společně zabývali politickými, sociálními a demografickými otázkami.

Program zahrnoval prohlídku Saského zemského sněmu s průvodcem a diskusi s poslanci Albrechtem Pallasem (SPD) a Ingem Flemmingem (CDU). Tematická prohlídka města organizovaná iniciativou "Mahngang Täter:innen-spuren" (Pamětní procházka: Stopy pachatelů), praktická cvičení, jako například zkoušení simulačního obleku napodobujícího omezení pohyblivosti, zraku a sluchu jako u starších osob, a interkulturní aktivity doplnily hlavní část programu.

At the students' workshop, we will present and discuss various projects, such as demographic change in the Czech Republic, democratic participation and the development of the post-secondary school.
