The President of the Federal Agency for Civic Education visits the John Dewey Research Center for the Didactics of Democracy
On September 1, 2021, the President of the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) Thomas Krüger visited the John Dewey Research Center for the Didactics of Democracy (JoDDiD) at TU Dresden. In addition to a tour of the newly established consulting workshop and the innovation workshop of JoDDiD, a professional exchange took place with the director of JoDDiD, Prof. Besand and staff members. Current challenges and requirements of extracurricular political education in Saxony were discussed, in particular the need to support political education with innovative approaches. In this context, the need for advice for stakeholders in extracurricular civic education was also discussed. Didactic impulses from JoDDiD qualify the work of stakeholders in civic education in Saxony.
Thomas Krüger expressly welcomed constructive and open cooperation between bpb and JoDDiD in order to sustainably strengthen and qualify extracurricular civic education.
Prof. Anja Besand, Director of JoDDiD: "As JoDDiD, we extend an invitation. We are a place where people think openly and innovatively about new approaches to political education. We are delighted to be able to involve the bpb as an important partner."
