"JoDDiD liest"
Time and again, exciting contributions appear in the field of political education in a wide variety of places that are of interest to extracurricular political youth and adult education. Not to forget that there is already an almost unmanageable number of contributions that can be no less inspiring for the practice of political education. In order to provide an insight into texts that we at JoDDiD find exciting & to simplify the possibility of discussion, we at JoDDiD have developed a new transfer format: The JoDDiD reads. In this format, we read texts that are important for our work at loose intervals.
READING No. 1 - Hope and its looseness
We begin this series with a contribution on the question of the significance of hope in the context of political education. This seemed important to us in the bleak days after 13 months of the pandemic.
READING PIECE No. 2 - Just don't avoid arguments
In this piece, against the backdrop of the debate about cancel culture and supposed speech bans, we explore the question of what can/should/must actually be argued about in democracy and what this means for political education
Reading piece no. 3 - Covid crisis as a learning opportunity
This reading piece deals with the question of what learning opportunities arise for political education in the context of the Covid 19 pandemic. It was written right at the beginning of the pandemic in April 2020 and thus provides an interesting review of starting points and questions. The text is also available in a publication by Wochenschauverlag entitled: Die Coronavorlesung.
>Lecture No. 4 - Be my quarantine
Opportunities and challenges of digital university teaching from a political didactic perspective - in times of global crisis and beyond.
> Lecture No. 5 - Political education in reactionary times
In this new "JoDDiD reads" episode, the authors Prof. Dr. Rico Behrens and Stefan Breuer provide exciting insights into the new book "Politische Bildung in reaktionären Zeiten - Plädoyer für eine standhafte Schule", published by Wochenschau-Verlag. The clever selection of texts from the book by the readers provides a broad insight into the challenging confrontation with group-related misanthropy. Along basic introductions as well as concrete cases from practice, this read-aloud finally leads to the most important stumbling blocks in the pedagogical handling of various misanthropic acts.
Reader No. 6 - Dewey's pedagogical credo
An introduction to the educational philosophy of John Dewey.
In this JoDDiD read-aloud piece, @fpunktppunkt introduces us to a basic text by John Dewey from 1897, which offers a basic orientation to Dewey's ideas on learning and education and thus provides what we consider to be a good introduction to getting to know our namesake.
Enjoy listening and thinking along.

Reading piece no. 7 - Political education and emotions
Here you can listen to a central contribution for political education by Tina Hölzel and David Jugel on educational processes, bonding and emotions, which was published by the Federal Agency for Civic Education in the volume "Politische Bildung mit Gefühl" edited by Anja Besand, Bernd Overwien and Peter Zorn.
Under the title "You can lose friends!", the authors discuss the connections between political education, emotions and bonding and try to clear up a didactic misconception and encourage emotional political education.
Have fun listening. We look forward to your feedback at joddid.de/feedback
