Rom und Italien bei Pasolini / Roma e l'Italia di Pasolini Film series with lectures and discussions
Rome shaped the artistic work of director and writer Pier Paolo Pasolini like no other city; Pasolini's critical gaze explored Italy and the Italian society of his time from Rome. To mark the 50th anniversary of his death, this series of events will commemorate the artist and explore the themes of Rome and Italy in Pasolini's work.

Introduction Torsten König: In dialog with the audience present, characteristics of Pasolini's cinematic language, his position in film history and the role of Rome in Pasolini's artistic work will be discussed.

Followed by a screening of Pier Paolo Pasolini (R), Comizi d'amore (1964)
Prof. Dr. Cornelia Wild researches and teaches literature and cultural studies at the University of Siegen. She is head of the research project "Pasolini: popular" (SFB 1472) and author of numerous publications on Pasolini's cinematic and literary work, most recently
"Dialogues with Pasolini" (Wagenbach 2025). Prof. Wild will talk about Comizi d'amore and Pasolini's film work.

Discussion and public talk with Michael Ernst: On the trail of Pasolini through Italy
Followed by a screening of Pepe Danquart (R), Vor mir der Süden (2020)
Michael Ernst is a cultural journalist and works for national and regional media. In 2022, he set out in Pasolini's footsteps and followed exactly the same route along the Italian coast that Pasolini took in 1959 together with photographer Paolo di Paolo for the reportage La lunga strada di sabbia on contemporary Italian society. Ernst presents a book project that documents his journey with and to Pasolini.
