About the professorship
The Chair of German as a Foreign Language offers courses on the didactics of German as a Foreign and Second Language (DaF/DaZ) in the Bachelor's programme, in the teacher training programmes and in the Master's programme European Languages (EuroS) of the Faculty of SLK; in the Master's programme with the option of a focus on DaF/DaZ. The range of courses is completed by the extension subject German as a Second Language, which gives student teachers of all subjects the opportunity to study German as a Second Language (DaZ) as a third teaching subject.
From the winter semester 24/25, the new certificate program “Didactics of German in the Context of Multilingualism: University Certificate of the TU Dresden for the Qualification of Teachers for Integration Courses” can be acquired as part of the qualification to lead integration courses of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).
Research at the professorship includes language concepts in foreign and second language didactics, literary textuality and aesthetic mediality in the context of German as a foreign language; cultural studies approaches (such as the concept of places of memory) in foreign language didactics.
As part of the Dhoch3 program launched by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Dhoch3 Module 10: Literature, Aesthetic Media and Language in German as a Foreign Language is being developed at the Chair of German as a Foreign Language.
