Preparatory Course
The TU Dresden offers its future international students the possibility to prepare for the DSH (German Language Proficiency Test for Admission to Higher Education) within the framework of a preparatory semester/ propaedeutic course (Propädeutikum) and to take it at the TU Dresden.
The preparatory course is offered to all applicants with foreign school-leaving degrees who are interested in German-language degree programs and who do not yet have sufficient knowledge of German, but have at least reached the German B2 language level.
The preparatory course comprises a total of approx. 320 hours and consists of the following three modules:
► Preparation for the DSH (classes usually in the morning)
► Phonetics
► Tutoring program for subject orientation (approx. two months after the start of the course)
► Subject-specific communication in accordance with the requested subject (only in the summer semester)
Costs
The preparatory course is free of charge.
An examination fee is charged for participation in the DSH examination.
The DSH examination is free of charge for participants of the Propädeutikum who are enrolled at the TU Dresden.
Capacity
The number of participants in a preparatory semester at the TU Dresden is limited. In the winter semester 45 places and in the summer semester 60 places are offered.

The entry test is conducted at the TU Dresden exclusively on site. Test procedure is a digital C-Test in a computer lab. You will be informed of your score straight away.
You will be informed of your admission to the German courses no later than two days after the test.
Applicants who have not received a place on a DSH preparation course at TU Dresden after the ranking can take part in a language course at TUDIAS or one of the other Dresden language schools for a fee.
