Project object and target groups
As the use of AI (artificial intelligence) is inevitably becoming an integral part of education, the requirements for language learning are changing. AI-controlled text generators and translation tools facilitate the creation of purely functional texts. This makes it all the more important for users to be able to critically evaluate the texts produced and adapt them to suit the target audience. In addition to basic communicative skills, critical reflection and the choice of communication forms are therefore an increasingly important part of language teaching.
The project "In Dialogue with AI" promotes cooperation between German and Czech students - in formal language training and in informal encounters - and makes AI a partner in the process.
Specifically, German learners at Czech partner universities and Czech learners at TU Dresden work in tandems and with the support of KI on career-related (language) projects. Working together, they train cooperation and communication strategies and critically reflect on AI texts. The AI also serves as a tutor and training partner: the students prepare themselves linguistically for the meetings and collaborations with suitable prompts. In addition, we create informal meeting opportunities in the form of "language cafés", where students can reduce their inhibitions about speaking and practise their oral language skills in a stress-free atmosphere. ### The new cooperative teaching formats are to be integrated into university language teaching in the long term.
