About the Centrum
Founded at the end of 2017, the Centrum Frankreich | Frankophonie (CFF) is broadly interdisciplinary and has members from numerous faculties, including those from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences as well as the Faculties of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Medicine and Mechanical Engineering.
The CFF sees itself as a
- place for German-Francophone scientific and cultural exchange,
- a contact point for international cooperation
- a mediator of expertise in francophone cultural areas.
The CFF cooperates with the DRESDEN-concept partners, supports the "Culture and Societal Change" Research Priority Area and contributes to the visibility of TU Dresden's international relations.
Structured promotion of early-career researchers takes place within the framework of the Franco-German Doctoral College, funded by the Franco-German University.
The CFF is a founding member of the network of university France and Francophonie centers in Germany.
It also acts as an organizer and venue in the Literaturnetz Dresden.

Apéro Littéraire: About Amin Maalouf with Torsten König
The Apéro Littéraire in March was dedicated to the French-Lebanese writer Amin Maalouf.
Interested guests were cordially invited to join Dr. phil. Torsten König in the usual informal and interactive literary discussion to discover this multi-faceted and in every respect very topical author.

5 questions for... Didier and Nadia Houénoudé
As part of the Week of the French Language and Francophonie from March 13 to 20, 2024 in Dresden, Didier and Nadia Houénoudé took part in a "question and answer game".
They told us about their home country of Benin, the languages that are spoken there and that they speak, multilingualism and interculturality, their definition of Francophonie and much more!
First event in the new series "5 questions to...", organized by the CFF, the association Francophonie Dresden e.V. and the Institute français Dresden.

The Week of the French Language and Francophonie 2024 was celebrated in Saxony from March 13 to 20 on the initiative of the Institute français Dresden, with the support of the Ministry of Justice and for Democracy, Europe and Equality and in cooperation with numerous partners from Dresden.
Lilia Hassaine's book Bitter Sun was published by Lenos Verlag Basel on March 12, 2024.
A conversation with the author and her translator Anne Thomas.

Anne Weber: Bannmeilen
Anne Weber is a freelance author and translator living in Paris. She has received numerous awards, including the German Book Prize 2020 for "Annette, ein Heldinnenepos". Her book "Bannmeilen. Ein Roman in Streifzügen" was published by Matthes & Seitz Berlin in 2024.

Audrée Wilhelmy (Québec): White resin
The Cap-Rouge-born writer's literary work, for which she was awarded the Prix Sade in 2015 and the Prix Ouest-France Étonnants Voyageurs in 2022, includes six novels. Weißes Harz (Blanc Résine) is her first novel to be published in German.

25th French Film Festival
Once again this year, the Programmkino Ost invites you to its diverse range of French films.
The Institute français and ARTE are presenting a (traveling) exhibition on the subject of Le cinéma d'animation - La french touch from 16.05. - 06.06.24 at the TU Dresden as a supporting program and on the occasion of 125 years of French animated films. In cooperation with the CFF.

Day of the Weimar Triangle in Saxony

Dr. Dorothee Risse (Berlin): Career prospects for philological graduates. About entry possibilities and opportunities
Dorothee Risse co-developed the Master's program in Applied Literary Studies at the FU Berlin, which combines the academic study of contemporary literature with the practice of literary mediation, promotion and criticism. She also works as a coach and career advisor in humanities subjects.

Public international panel discussion
Remembering colonial history: regional, European, global
The background is the exhibition "MENSCHENanSCHAUEN. From Looks to Deeds" (05.11.23 - 07.07.24) at the Stadtmuseum Dresden. Academics and museum experts from Germany, France and Bénin will discuss the topicality of colonial history with a view to public remembrance.
The event is a cooperation between the CFF, the Stadtmuseum Dresden, the Institute français Deutschland and the Groupe de recherche Achac.
With interpretation from French into German.

Dr. habil. Béatrice Durand (Berlin): Franco-German mirror images in contemporary literature
In addition to her literary works, Béatrice Durand has published numerous books on stereotypes and questions of identity/rivalry in Franco-German relations. She will be speaking as part of Bettina Lindorfer's lecture Ziemlich beste Freunde: deutsch-französische Beziehungen seit 1789.
