Students from Dresden

In the background there is a castle and people are walking towards it.
The Buddy Program of the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies is for students from that same faculty who have at least completed their first year of studies successfully. We aim to integrate international students into the academic and everyday life in Dresden and improve the cultural exchange outside of the ERASMUS context.
As a Buddy, you will help at least one international student for one term. You will be their contact person and friend, helping them with private as well as academic and bureaucratic organisation of their stay in Dresden. Furthermore, you will be able to set an example, show an open mind and you will have the unique chance to show someone “your” Dresden.
Preparation
- Participation in one of the preparatory meetings organised by the Koordinationsstelle Internationales during the term break (dates will be announced in the OPAL class and via E-Mail).
- First contact with your Buddy before their planned arrival via E-Mail
Examples for tasks
- Help with arrival in Dresden
- Maybe tips for finding an apartment
- Registration in Dresden, opening a bank account, application for insurance
- Integrative help outside of the ERASMUS context, for example shared activities during free time
- Help with building a time table for classes of each field
Your gain
- Improvement of inter and intracultural competences and exploring a new culture
- Meeting new people and making new contacts
- Preparation for your own stay abroad
- You can gain ECTSpoints for AQuA or the Ergänzungsbereich, depending on your course of studies (usually 2 ECTS for BA and old MA, 4 ECTS for Stex – please ask your study coordinator!)
