Subject-specific Bachelor's programme at the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies (Discontinued)

Since the winter semester 2017/2018, a wide range of subjects is available to you in the Bachelor's programme in Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies. In addition to the 1st and optionally also 2nd sub-disciplines: English and American Studies, German Studies, Classical Philology, Romance Studies, and Slavic Studies, you may also opt for Protestant Theology, History, Catholic Theology, History of Art, or Philosophy as a 2nd sub-discipline.

Short profile: The Bachelor's degree programme Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies
- is a modular degree programme of six semesters with 180 credit points.
- is a first university degree qualifying for professional work and also provides the basis for the Faculty's Master's programme.
- allows for a wide range of specialisations and flexible structuring of the courses. The five sub-disciplines English and American Studies, German Studies (admission restricted by local NC), Classical Philology, Romance Studies, and Slavic Studies may be combined at will.
- allows students to choose parts of their studies (second sub-discipline) from the subjects offered by the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science.
- offers a more individual design in the area of General Qualification than before; the sub-areas to be chosen freely or optionally consist of the modules foreign languages, basic competences, internship, stay abroad. - ensures cross-faculty, uniform crediting in terms of examined assessments, which corresponds to the crediting of the courses for teacher training with State Examination.

Note: The subjects Media Research/Media Practice, Musicology, Political Science and Sociology offered by the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences may not be combined with subjects offered by the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies. However, the subject Musicology can be chosen as a second major subject in the combination History of Art/Musicology (35 credit points each) if the first major subject is from the range of subjects offered by the Faculty SLK.
