The Chair of Business Management, esp. Responsible Management

In academic teaching, one of our main tasks is to coordinate and further develop the Master's programme "Business Ethics and Responsible Management" (renamed in 2019; original name: "Business Ethics and CSR Management"), which was launched in 2010. This programme was the first of its kind in Germany and differs in its distinct focus on social sciences and business from comparable programmes that are more philosophical or environmental in nature. 

Our approach is based on applied strategic management as well as on a combination of normative guidance based on business ethics and diagnostic competences building on a social sciences foundation. In terms of content, the curriculum is characterised by change and transformation management, diversity management, global supply chain management, digitalisation management and human rights management, among others. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of basic and advanced modules on topics at the interface of sustainability, corporate and business ethics, organisation and strategy.
We want to encourage students to develop a critical and reflective approach to organisations and their management.

Our students learn to identify and analyse management challenges in their complexity, to develop their own theory-based approaches to solutions and to implement them in business practice. The discussion of case studies (real cases) plays a central role in the programme and promotes an interdisciplinary and application-oriented perspective on management challenges.
