SUSTAINABILITY ASSESSMENT AT UNIVERSITIES
Standardized web-based benchmark system for sustainability assessment at universities
Description: In essence, the project aims at standardization through the participatory definition of sustainability criteria in the form of an indicator catalog as well as the design of a web-based benchmark system and focuses on the higher education fields of action, which include teaching, research, transfer, governance, and operations. So far, 16 universities have confirmed their participation. For each field of action, at least five to ten indicators will be defined and scales for operationalization will be developed. On this basis, scoring will be possible, for which a label with different levels can be awarded. This should be a key success factor and ensure a certain degree of competition among the universities. Standardization can make the continuous improvement process within universities measurable and controllable for university policy. By the end of the project, reports from at least ten universities will be published. An independent demand-oriented continuation for regular reporting should also be ensured after the end of the project.
