Faculties
Electrical and Computer Engineering
With 28 Chairs and three junior professorships, the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with its motto “thinking in systems,” is one of the largest faculties at the TU Dresden. The course offerings and research opportunities are correspondingly diverse and cover the whole spectrum of this field of study. The faculty not only enjoys connections with international universities and research institutes, but also with industry partners. Students receive a hands-on education and can make important contacts for their future careers early on.
Computer Science
Six decades of research and teaching experience characterise the largest computer science training facility in Saxony. The Faculty of Computer Science covers the entire spectrum of computer science, and teaches and researches at the highest level: internationally oriented, outstandingly industrial and scientifically networked, with state-of-the-art technologies and up-to-date. Its research serves to develop new technologies for the future: the Internet of Services, Cloud Computing, Data Security, Big Data and Interactive Visual Computing exemplify numerous fields of research that give new impetus to teaching. In addition, "Silicon Saxony" takes software research to a new dimension.
Mechanical Science and Engineering
"Technology transcends borders" – for over 180 years, the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering, with research and teaching in the service of technology, stands for people. With almost 4,000 students it is the largest faculty at the TU Dresden. Thanks to a wide range of specialization options in the five diploma programs of mechanical engineering, process and natural materials engineering, materials science, mechatronics and regenerative energy systems, students can flexibly decide which subject area they would like to specialize in. General mechanical engineering, lightweight construction, aerospace engineering, bioprocess engineering or food technology are just a few of the offered fields of study that can be chosen from depending on the course of studies.
