Faculties
Electrical and Computer Engineering
With 28 Chairs and two junior professorships, the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with its motto “thinking in systems,” is one of the largest faculties at the TU Dresden. The offerings in teaching and research are correspondingly diverse and cover the entire spectrum of the field: from human-machine interaction to micro- and nanoelectronics, from energy systems of the future to biomedical engineering. The faculty has excellent networks not only with international universities and research institutions, but also with industry. Thus, students receive a practical education and can establish valuable contacts for their professional future at an early stage.
Computer Science
Six decades of research and teaching experience characterise the largest computer science training facility in Saxony. The Faculty of Computer Science covers the entire spectrum of computer science, and teaches and researches at the highest level: internationally oriented, outstandingly industrial and scientifically networked, with state-of-the-art technologies and up-to-date. Its research serves to develop new technologies for the future: the Internet of Services, Cloud Computing, Data Security, Big Data and Interactive Visual Computing exemplify numerous fields of research that give new impetus to teaching. In addition, "Silicon Saxony" takes software research to a new dimension.
Mechanical Science and Engineering
"Technology transcends borders" – for over 180 years, the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering, with research and teaching in the service of technology, stands for people. With more than 3,000 students it is the largest faculty at the TU Dresden. Thanks to a wide range of specialization options in the five diploma programs of mechanical engineering, process and natural materials engineering, materials science, mechatronics and regenerative energy systems, students can flexibly decide which subject area they would like to specialize in. General mechanical engineering, lightweight construction, aerospace engineering, bioprocess engineering or food technology are just a few of the offered fields of study that can be chosen from depending on the course of studies.
