Studying at the Chair of Power Electronics
In many areas that depend on the application of electrical energy, the use of power electronic circuits to increase the energy efficiency and/or the functionality of the system is currently being tested or introduced.
Some applications were only able to establish their current importance through power electronic circuits: The infeed of electrical energy from regenerative energy sources, the introduction of electromobility in bicycle and automotive technology, energy-efficient lighting based on LEDs.
Competencies and Knowledge
In its courses, the Chair of Power Electronics imparts competencies and knowledge in dealing with and about, respectively, power electronic circuits and their components:
- Operational mode of power electronic semiconductor components,
- Analysis of the most common power electronic circuits,
- Methods for controlling power electronic circuits,
- Properties of the generated voltages and/or currents as well as
- Introduction to control.
