The access to the Lab Design Cluster is possible on from within the data network of TU Dresden. Therefor the login to TUD VPN (virtual private network) is required first (see instrauctions under VPN im Datennetz der TU Dresden).
For Remote Desktop Access, TigerVNC has to be installed and used as folllows:

  • Install a compatible VNC client, e.g. TigerVNC (tigervnc)
  • Connect from within the TU-Dresden VPN network to
    • processor design starting in summer 2023: login.caelab.et.tu-dresden.de
    • all other lectures: lab lab-icdesign.et.tu-dresden.de
  • The VNC server access is protected by a password, please use the same password as the one for accessing the lecture materials.
  • When connected, you will see a login screen similar to the one in the CAE lab. Please login with your lab account.
  • After login you will see a minimalistic desktop where you can start a terminal via the icon at the lower left corner. From there you can connect to one of the compute machines via ssh, like from the lab clients.
  • Please note that you cannot pause the VNC session but only terminate it.
