Access to the CAE lab TOE201 with student ID card
Access for registered users (login) is only possible with a valid student ID card. Only the unique ID is read out and assigned to the registered user.
- Step 1 (anonymous registration) - Each user must register the student ID card independently on the basis of their matriculation number and date of birth. The registration tool can be accessed with a web browser via: Doorlock-Website. Before registering, the student ID card must be hold once in front of a door reader (PC-Pool or TOE201). In this context, log the exact read-in time for the recognition of the ID card number in the registration tool.
- Step 2 (Personalizing the registration) - First log in anonymously (see step 1) and personalize your access by entering your last name, first name and assigning a password.
- Step 3 (Activation of access to the CAE lab) - Send an e-mail to
with
Subject: Door access: <related lecture>
Content: Last name, first name (as in step 2)
Activation can only take place if a personalized access (steps 1 and 2) has been created.
Work@Home
Access to the design environment is only possible within the TUD data network. For external access, it is necessary to dial into the TUD VPN beforehand (see instructions under VPN im Datennetz der TU Dresden).
A TigerVNC-based remote desktop is to be installed and used as access software as follows:
- Install a compatible VNC client, e.g. TigerVNC (tigervnc)
- Connect from within the TU-Dresden VPN network to
- login.caelab.et.tu-dresden.de
- The VNC service is protected with a password, use the same password as for the teaching materials.
- When you are connected, you will see a login screen similar to the one in the CAE lab. Log in here with your ZIH login.
- After logging in, you will see a minimalist desktop, from which you can start a text console using the icon at the bottom left of the bar. From here you can log in to the compute machines via ssh, just like in the CAE lab, and work there.
- Please note that the VNC session cannot be paused, but can only be terminated permanently.
