Prizes from the Gisela and Erwin Sick Foundation
SICK AG, founded by Dr. Erwin Sick, is a manufacturer of intelligent and innovative sensors in the fields of factory, logistics and process automation. To promote engineering and natural sciences, the Gisela and Erwin Sick Foundation at the TUD Dresden University of Technology (TUD) endows a doctoral prize on the subject of measurement systems technology as well as other prizes for measurement and sensor technology.
In awarding the prizes of the Gisela and Erwin Sick Foundation, particular emphasis is placed on
- progress for science and
- the relevance of the research results for practical measurement tasks.
University Prize
The University Prize of the Gisela and Erwin Sick Foundation has an endowment of 5,000 euros and is awarded for an outstanding dissertation on the subject of measurement system technology.

Prizes for measurement and sensor technology
The Gisela and Erwin Sick Foundation's prizes for measurement and sensor technology are endowed with a total of 4,500 euros and are awarded for several outstanding theses such as dissertations, diploma or master's theses as well as student research projects or bachelor's theses.

Eligible for the University Prize and the Gisela and Erwin Sick Foundation Prizes for Measurement and Sensor Technology are theses completed at the TUD that have been awarded "magna cum laude" or "summa cum laude" or the grades "very good" or "excellent/excellent". Furthermore, the date of the defense, graduation or submission of a thesis must not be more than two years before the end of the submission deadline. Self-application is also possible.
Young Researcher Award
The Gisela and Erwin Sick Foundation, Waldkirch, sponsors the Sick Young Researchers Award for outstanding work at the Chair of Measurement and Sensor System Engineering (MST) in the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the TUD Dresden University of Technology. When awarding the Gisela and Erwin Sick Foundation's young talent awards, particular emphasis is placed on progress for science, understanding of measurement systems and the relevance of the research results for practical measurement tasks.The Gisela and Erwin Sick Foundation's young talent awards have a total endowment of 500 euros and can be awarded for one or more outstanding diploma, master's, bachelor's, degree or research theses. Furthermore, the date of graduation or submission of a thesis must not be more than two years before the end of the submission deadline.
