Abstract
The Business Unit Wireless Microsystems at Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems
in Dresden has designed an UHF-RFID transponder system. So far this RFID tag system was
tested and verified with the methods of behavioral checking. Consistent functional extension
of the system and further requirements regarding verification require the use of “Universal
Verification Methodology” (UVM).
The use of an UVM testbench for the verification of a state-based system shall be investigated
in this thesis. A concept shall be developed to drive the RFID tag with special test stimuli
and to test the behavior in error and usual operating states. An important basis for this thesis
is the clarification of the terms verification and RFID standardization. The structure and funcionality
of UVM will be analyzed afterwards and a concept for verifying the RFID tag shall
be implemented later. Specific features of this concept will be illustrated and the testbench
as a significant element in this thesis shall be optimized. The concept’s achievement and its
performance are finally drawn and evaluated.
