Abstract
Through the capabilities of Additive Manufacturing Technologies, conventional parts can be optimized and enhanced with additional functionalities. This opens up the possibility to add sensoric systems to additively manufactured components. Hence relevant process variables can be monitored in-situ. If these systems are thoroughly designed and sufficiently tested, they al-low improved controlling of current processes. A functionalization of injection-moulding dies, for example, might allow a faster and more cost-effective evaluation and adaption of selected control values.
The present thesis describes the state of the art for Additive Manufacturing Technologies, in-jection moulding and sensor integration. Results of related research concerning component-wear will be presented, as well as the assessment of their current feasibility. Subsequently the design of novel pressure-sensing systems will be elaborated on. Finally results gained from functional tests of those systems will be discussed.
