Formalities

(Please also read the instructions provided by the International Office and the Studentenwerk carefully).
Enrolment/ Student ID
Visit the Immatrikulationsamt (German students) or the international office (Akademisches Auslandsamt - international students) to enrol at the university.
In order to enrol you will have to pay the semester fee (Semesterbeitrag) and present all the required documents (pass, visa, original diplomas, admission letter, health insurance).
Address: Strehlener Straße 22, 6th floor, 01069 Dresden. It is located close to the main station. Follow the instructions you will receive there.
You will need to organize the following:
- a bank account in Germany (Bankkonto),
- health insurance (Krankenversicherung),
- residents’ registration (Einwohnermeldeamt),
- registration at the foreign residents’ office,
- and other documents, depending on your country of origin.
The international office will provide you with more information regarding this matter after your arrival.
Semester Print-Out Sheet
Upon matriculation at the TU Dresden you will receive a "semester print-out sheet." Each print-out is valid for the current semester. After registration for the next semester you will receive a new one.
It contains the following:
Student Identity Card (Studentenausweis)
Student ID is valid only in connection with your passport or an identity card. It is also a ticket for the public transport. You may use all buses and trams in the Dresden municipal area as well as the regional trains in Saxony.
Certificates of Matriculation (Immatrikulationsbescheinigungen)
Proof of enrolment that you may submit to the Studentenwerk, your bank, health insurance company, and the Foreign Residents Office.
Matrikelnummer
Seven-digit number to identify a student
Prüfungsnummer (Examination Number)
Identity number used to register for examinations and publication of grades. Please take care to keep it secret.
Emeal Certificate
With this certificate you may receive your mensa card called Emeal for cashless payments in all student cafeterias.
Login
To access computers at the university and your university e-mail account.
Class Schedules
Please check these websites to find your class schedules and other important information.
IT Services
You receive a personal login ('ZIH-login') and a first password (change it for your personal password) with your matriculation documents on your semester print-out sheet. With your ZIH login you have access to wifi, your personal TU Dresden e-mail account and various web portals.
