Welcome Prof. Florian Tschorsch!
We are pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Florian Tschorsch as holder of the professorship Privacy and Security at the Institute of System Architecture as of August 1st.
Florian Tschorsch completed his master's degree in computer science, funded by the NRW scholarship, with honors at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in 2010 and received his PhD on "Onions in the Queue: An Integral Networking Perspective on Anonymous Communication Systems" from Humboldt University Berlin in 2016. Since 2017, he has been an assistant professor in Distributed Security Infrastructures at the Technische Universität Berlin and the Einstein Center Digital Future (ECDF). He has also held the Chair of Computer Engineering at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin as a Visiting Professor since October 2021. His research work aims at integrating security and privacy in distributed system architectures and communication protocols, especially with regard to application-specific requirements.
Florian Tschorsch has received several awards for his research, including nominations for best paper at ICBC, LCN, and NetSys. He has received research awards from the Society for Data Privacy and Data Security (GDD), the GI Communications and Distributed Systems (KuVS) Division, and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratories. He is also a Fellow at the Berlin Centre for Consumer Policies (BCCP) and was honored as a Pioneer at the World Frontiers Forum (WFF).
Florian Tschorsch: "I am looking forward to the teaching and research environment at TU Dresden. In particular, I intend to build on the successes of the Chair of Privacy and Data Security while continuing to develop its profile over the next few years. Our focus on designing secure and privacy-protecting communication systems that allow self-determined use provides an excellent template for this endeavor, in my view."
The faculty team wishes Prof. Florian Tschorsch all the best for his professional goals and personal ventures!
Prof. Dr. Florian Tschorsch succeeds the Professorship of Data Protection and Data Security, which was held with great commitment and success by Dr. Stefan Köpsell in the past years.
