THE FACULTY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE WELCOMES HONORARY PROFESSOR MIRKO CONRAD
Prof. Conrad has already been teaching at TU Dresden on the topics of Automotive Software Engineering and Functional Safety since 2016 - he was appointed honorary professor at our faculty for the winter semester 2022/23. His lectures "Automotive Software Engineering" and "Automotive Software Safety" cover the fundamentals, special features and challenges of software engineering in the automotive domain. In particular, the core process for the development of software in vehicles and safety aspects of software development are considered.
Prof. Conrad serves as CTO of samoconsult GmbH, a Berlin-based consulting firm, which advises companies across industries in the implementation of safety standards and the improvement of their software engineering processes. He graduated from the Technical University of Berlin with a degree in computer science and a doctorate. Prof. Conrad is deputy spokesperson of the steering committee of the 'Automotive Software Engineering' working group and technical expert on the steering committee of the 'Software Engineering' technical committee of the German Informatics Society (GI).
His research interests include functional safety and safety of intended functionality (SOTIF) of software-based automotive electrical/electronic systems. He is also actively involved in the standardization of various automotive safety standards.
Prof. Conrad is looking forward to his job: " Having completed my undergraduate studies in computer science here at the TU Dresden from 1990 to 1992, it is a special honor for me to return to my first alma mater as a honorary professor."
