New Inclusion Resource Project launched - "Neurodivergent@TU Dresden
At the beginning of September, the project "Neurodivergent@TU Dresden" started at the Chair of Human-Computer Interaction, funded by special Inclusion funds. Under the direction of the research project "Autark", two persons are working until the end of the year to survey the study situation of neurodivergent students, especially autistic students as well as people with AD(H)S. The term neurodiversity is used to express the fact that differences in the study situation of students with autism and people with AD(H)S are not always the same. The term neurodiversity is used to express that differences in neurological development are part of the natural human spectrum, with barriers and challenges coming more from society. A conceptual distinction is made between neurotypical individuals and neurodivergent individuals (e.g., autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia, AD(H)S). Different brain developments can have an impact on the way of interacting, thinking, communicating, but also on how external stimuli are perceived and processed.
In concrete terms, the project aims to record the requirements of this target group in the university context or during their studies by means of surveys, in order to subsequently be able to derive support measures and needs and to raise awareness of these. In addition, the exchange in the sense of the peer concept is supported in the form of a regulars' table.
