Symposiums zum Thema „Emerging Computing Technologies“
Abstract:
The combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and High-Performance Computing (HPC) is transforming the computational sciences - such as bioinformatics - by enabling the efficient processing and analysis of large-scale datasets and complex models. In this talk, I will present recent projects from my research that illustrate how AI and HPC can be leveraged to address key challenges in computational life sciences.
I will first show how we have used interpretable AI techniques to extract meaningful insights from biomedical data, with a focus on time-evolving biological networks and large-scale ECG datasets. Next, I will demonstrate how we have applied HPC architectures to large-scale simulations of complex epidemiological models, using the example of COVID-19 spread modeling. Finally, I will briefly discuss the importance of scalable research infrastructures, highlighting examples from current infrastructure projects I am involved in, which support efficient data integration, sharing, and analysis.
Each of these examples underscores the critical role of computational efficiency, robust analytical pipelines, and scalable data-driven approaches in modern scientific research.
